Curriculum : Grades 11 & 12 - ISC and AS & A Levels
The HSEA Grades 11 and 12 programme builds a bridge to the future with guidance towards undergraduate and graduate programmes. It keeps in mind that education must include human and social considerations, and lend itself to adaptability. We live in families but also in a community, and this has wide connotations and responsibilities. Exploring an argument in addition to analysing a line of reasoning logically, is an art that needs to be developed. Students spend time with mentors, understanding the contemporary relevance of the subjects they are pursuing. Being able to reach beyond themselves and touch the lives of others, search for new answers to old questions and connect to humanity in general, are important aspects of each learner’s development.
Architecturally, our Grades 11 and 12 block echoes the vision and philosophy of our school. The central atrium – a space for discussions and interaction, is surrounded by learning spaces and an open staffroom. The building merges from all sides with the surrounding greenery and natural landscape.
With a faculty well versed with college requirements both in India and overseas, support regarding choice of subjects is offered. As a school we also work with counsellors who can guide our students with specific college application processes. Based on what a student is looking for we recommend a suitable advisor. Our graduating students have gone on to attend universities in India and abroad. College advisors also work with our faculty to keep them informed about what colleges to look for so that students can have a road map. We believe that it is important for our students to focus on what they are passionate about and not just engage in activities for the sake of doing so. Addressing passion and interest is crucial. It defines who we are.
Education and Relatability
We encourage students to understand the philosophy of each chosen discipline - be it the Humanities, Commerce, Art & Design, Physical Education & Sports, Music, Maths or Science.
Our pedagogical practices reflect the same and we encourage learners to contextualise their learning in relation to their everyday lives in wider society. Alongside academic excellence, we aim to nurture well rounded young adults, equipped to embrace life in all its forms. We constantly strive to help them gain multiple, independent perspectives through inclusivity, inquiry, and passion. This extends beyond academics to theatre, sports, music, research projects or community work, both within and outside the school campus. We encourage our students to be independent, discerning learners, preparing them to accept and handle the challenges that lie ahead.
Exam Boards
We offer two exam boards: Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ISC) and Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). Based on our in-house entrance exam for the purpose of counselling, both our continuing and new students, are guided by the faculty to choose a board based on their strengths. We offer a wide range of subjects. Students may pursue traditional combinations or choose an eclectic mix from the multiple subject combinations offered – this allows for exploration, enabling them to feel at home with what they are passionate about, instead of just fitting into rigid streams of humanities & social sciences, commerce, or pure sciences.
Accreditations
Our Programmes
There are numerous opportunities for our students that complement their holistic development. Most of the clubs and societies in school are student initiatives. Our mentored research opportunities are looked forward to. A teacher-mentor is assigned to all Grade 11 students and by the middle of Grade 12 they finish writing a research paper and do presentations for their cohort, parents, and teachers. Some of our students have gone on to publish their research findings in journals. These projects help our students to develop research skills – to study a topic in depth – and also strengthen their college applications.

Grades 1 to 3
Primary Montessori School
Our Primary Programme (Grades 1, 2 and 3) is built on the philosophy and pedagogy of Maria Montessori, which takes into consideration the growing and developmental needs of children of this age group. The mixed age group in each environment (ages 6 to 9 approximately) provides opportunities for wider social interaction, the development of essential life skills such as cooperating with others, turn-taking, understanding the dynamics of a group, and accepting responsibility for one's decisions and actions. Groups of children work on different concepts, unlike in a traditional classroom where every child is doing the same thing.
Grades 4 to 8
Integrated Curriculum
The curriculum for Grades 4 to 8 is unique to HSEA with a blend of Montessori philosophy and vital elements from the Boards we are affiliated to. After spending time in the Primary Montessori environment, children are ready to move to a single aged group from Grade 4 onwards. Our philosophy and practices remain in place, while learners gradually adapt to a more structured timetable. Our Middle School programme is more about a curriculum and not so much about a syllabus. This includes learners’ own unique experiences, and opportunities are given to discover their own potential.
Grades 9 & 10
ICSE and IGCSE
The transition to high school is an important step and we endeavour to make it as smooth as possible. With a strong foundation in learning how to learn, how to apply knowledge, and analyse information and situations, our educators have discussions with each learner and their parents at the end of Grade 8 to decide on an exam board for Grades 9 & 10 (ICSE or IGCSE). In relation to both boards, the curriculum is analysed and lessons are planned to combine the joy and discovery of knowledge and to encompass competency requirements.
Grades 11 & 12
ISC and AS & A Levels
Our programmes for Grades 11 & 12 are rigorous ones, providing both challenge and opportunity for in-depth research and study. The focus is not just on preparing for graduating from high school, but on preparing for the future. With access to mentors for their selected subjects, counselling on career choices and our in-house College Ready programme, it is an enriching two years for all students.
