Putting a face to a fear

When Covid-19 was still a new fiction-like term–- an idea that was foreign and far-far away, the fear in school and the talks around Covid 19 were rampant. The exercise asked learners to put a face to this fear. It aimed to use drawing and characterisation as a tool to address and confront fear with humour and imagination. What did they think it looked like? What was this virus’ body like? What does it do?

These drawings were made before the scientific and popular images of spheres with nozzles flooded the news. They share visuals of a virus that externalises an imagination, driven by rumours and fear, and the exercise became a way to have conversations around the newly developing information around the virus.
